My graphite series Seven Deadly Sins has been sold and is on hold for public viewing at the moment.
I am currently engrossed in my oil painting series Haemophila et le 5 Sens; which addresses our facination/fear of blood...I will keep you posted on my progress.

Atelier Preparation

The time has come for me to explore the world of oil painting.
I have oil painted in the past without instruction; I would now like to learn the way of the masters.
In the spring or summer of 2010 I will enroll in the Atelier of Adria Gottlieb
In preparation for the Atelier I will enroll in the Tonal Figure Drawing classes of Richard Morris.
The drawings I have previously posted are from photos; the drawing classes will prepare me to work from live models, honing and developing skills necessary to begin painting the figure in oil.

Shannon is being drawn as one of my 7 Deadly Sins measuring 42" x 50".

All the work in this series is pencil on paper; Materials used are...
Strathmore 400 series drawing paper,Ebony jet black extra smooth pencil, #2 HB pencil, tortillons (blending stumps), Pink Pearl eraser, kneaded eraser, sandpaper pad, tissue paper, workable spray fixatif.

I begin with the contour drawn; from there begin to render the focal points of the face making sure they receive the greatest detail. In my work, the eyes will usually be the most striking and alluring part of the piece. Rendering the form of the face and hair, keeping all shading smooth and very selective of any hard edges. I will complete the face before moving on.

I lightly tone the mass within the contour and subsequently render the torso and arms.

She is now finished all but the tea cup needed in her hands.
